Their oldest daughter, Selin, is an architect. She designs buildings at an architecture firm in İstanbul. Their son, Burak, is a computer programmer. He develops software at an IT company. The youngest member of the family is their niece, Defne. She lives with them and she is a university student. She wants to become a journalist in the future.

A Day in the Life of a Journalist
My name is Zeynep and I am a journalist. I work at a news agency in Ankara. I wake up very early every morning because I need to check the latest news before I go to the office. At work, I report news, interview people, and write articles. I also manage our social media accounts. My editor says I “run the workplace” because I do so many different things. I usually finish work at 7 p.m., but sometimes I work late when there is breaking news. I love my job because every day is different and exciting, but it can be very tiring.

My aunt Ayşe is a photographer. She works at a photography studio in the city centre. She shoots photographs for weddings, birthdays, and special events. She loves her job because she meets many different people.

My stepfather Hasan is an accountant. He works at a law firm. He advises people on their finances and helps them manage their money. He is very good with numbers.

My uncle Ahmet is a pharmacist. He works at a pharmacy in our neighbourhood. Every day, he wakes up at 7 a.m. and goes to work. At the pharmacy, he serves customers and advises them on medicines. He also checks prescriptions carefully. He likes his job because he helps people stay healthy. He finishes work at 6 p.m. and comes home for dinner.
Your task: Choose a different job (e.g. journalist, architect, computer programmer, security guard, etc.) and write a similar paragraph. Include:

• Daily work routine (what time they start, what they do)

• What they like about the job
