Two Students, Two Routines

After school, he usually does his homework and then watches series on his laptop. He sometimes plays football with his friends at the weekend. He rarely stays up late because he gets tired quickly.

Yuki is a high school student in Tokyo, Japan. She wakes up at 6:30 every day. She makes her bed, gets dressed and has a quick breakfast. She walks to school because it is close to her house. After classes, she attends a music club and practises the piano. In the evening, she always reviews her notes carefully. She never goes to bed after 11 p.m.

Emre’s Study Routine
My name is Emre and I am in the 9th grade. I always plan my study time carefully. After school, I first have a short break and eat a snack. Then I sit at my desk and take notes while I read my textbooks. I highlight important words and sentences with coloured pens because it helps me remember them. I focus on one subject at a time and I never study with my phone next to me. When I finish all my tasks, I call it a day and relax by listening to music. My classmates often ask me for study tips. I tell them, “Keep up with your lessons every day and don’t leave everything to the last minute.”
  1. a Why does Emre highlight important words?
  2. b What does “I call it a day” mean in this text?
  3. c Why does Emre study without his phone?
  4. d Do you think Emre has a good study routine? Why or why not? Write 2–3 sentences.
Sadece metinden kopyalama yapma, kendi cümlelerinle açıkla. “Call it a day” ifadesinin bağlamına bak — Emre tüm görevlerini bitirdikten sonra ne yapıyor? Son soruda kendi fikrini ve nedenini yaz.
